Ravi Santhanam, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of HDFC Bank has been named in the Forbes list of ‘The World’s Most Influential CMOs’.
He has been ranked 39 in the list of 50 most influential CMOs which includes marketing heads of Apple, Lego, Adobe, Microsoft, BMW, and P&G, among others.
Forbes said, “Santhanam is a marketing leader who prioritises personalised and relevant customer experience and believes that machine learning and data science are critical tools for marketers.”
Santhanam is the only CMO of an Indian company featured in the illustrious list.
This is the eighth edition of the annual list released by Forbes with research partners Sprinklr and LinkedIn. A total of 427 global CMOs were eligible for consideration this year.
The list is generated using data from news reports, websites, and social networks to measure influence.
Santhanam stated, “I am humbled to be a part of Forbes’ list of influential CMOs. This recognition is a reflection of how the bank came together during an unprecedented situation to launch several unique initiatives. When the lockdown was declared we were determined to play our part, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, in ensuring the health and safety of our fellow citizens. We launched #HDFCBankSafetyGrid campaign when social distancing was the need of the hour to fight Covid-19.”
Phil Schiller, Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, Apple, bagged the top spot.
Others who made it to the top five, from the second to the fifth positions, were Stephanie McMahon, Chief Brand Officer of WWE; Fernando Machado, Global CMO of Restaurant Brands International; Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President of Customer and Brand of BMW and Olivier Francois, Global President of Fiat Brand and Chief Marketing Officer of FCA Group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, respectively.
